How to install Apollo MCP
In Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, Cursor and Claude Code, with what to check before you start and the first prompts to run.
Apollo MCP is a remote server hosted by Apollo.io. You do not install anything locally and you do not need an API key. You add it from your AI tool's connector directory, or by pasting the URL `https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp` into the tool's MCP configuration, then sign in to Apollo through OAuth.
Have the person who owns outbound prospecting or sales operations do this, using their own Apollo login (business email). The connection inherits that user's Apollo permissions, plan limits and credits. The server has write tools, including sequence enrollment, so start read-only and supervise any change.

Before you start
- An Apollo account on any plan, including free, created with a business email
- Permission in Apollo to do what you plan to ask the AI to do (search, enrich, edit records, sequences)
- An AI tool that supports remote MCP connectors, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity, with rights to add connectors
- Awareness of your Apollo plan limits and credits, since actions through MCP mirror your account
- A short list of read-only test queries to check results against the Apollo UI
- How it runs
- Remote, added by URL
- Access
- Read and write
- Server address

Apollo MCP in Claude
- Sign in to Apollo with your business email in a browser first, so the OAuth step goes smoothly.
- In Claude (web or desktop app), go to
Customize > Connectors. - Find
Apollo.ioand clickConfigure. - If Apollo is not listed, add a custom connector and paste
https://mcp.apollo.io/mcpas the server URL. - Sign in with your Apollo account and approve the OAuth connection. No API key is needed.
- Start a new chat and run a read-only request before asking for any changes.

Apollo MCP in ChatGPT
- Sign in to Apollo with your business email.
- In ChatGPT, open the connectors or integrations area and search for
Apollo. - If Apollo is listed, select it and start the connection. The Apollo docs say ChatGPT is supported but do not give menu names.
- If it is not listed, add a custom MCP connector (this typically requires Developer mode in ChatGPT) and paste
https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp. The Apollo docs do not describe this path in detail. - Sign in with your Apollo account and approve the OAuth connection.
- Run a read-only search first, such as finding companies that match a profile.

Apollo MCP in Gemini
- The Apollo documentation does not cover Gemini as a supported client. It names Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity.
- In Gemini CLI, you can try adding a remote server by URL under
mcpServersin your settings file. Check the Gemini CLI documentation for the exact key for remoteHTTPservers. - Use
https://mcp.apollo.io/mcpas the server URL. - Complete the Apollo OAuth sign-in if your client supports OAuth for remote servers.
- If the client cannot do OAuth with this server, use one of the clients Apollo documents instead.
- Confirm with a read-only request before any write action.
Apollo MCP in Microsoft Copilot
- The Apollo documentation does not mention Microsoft Copilot Studio or GitHub Copilot, so this path is unverified by the vendor.
- In Copilot Studio, add an MCP tool or custom connector and use
https://mcp.apollo.io/mcpas the server URL. Follow Microsoft's current steps for the exact fields. - In VS Code, add a remote server entry to
.vscode/mcp.jsonusing the same URL and the format in the VS Code MCP documentation. - Complete the Apollo OAuth sign-in when prompted. If OAuth fails, the client may not support it for this server.
- Test with a read-only prompt and compare results with Apollo.
Apollo MCP in Perplexity
- Sign in to Apollo with your business email.
- In Perplexity, open the connectors or integrations settings and search for
Apollo. - If Apollo is listed, select it and start the connection.
- If it is not listed, paste
https://mcp.apollo.io/mcpinto the MCP configuration if your plan and app version allow it. The docs give no Perplexity menu names. - Sign in with your Apollo account and approve the OAuth connection.
- Try a read-only query, such as reviewing sequence engagement stats.

Apollo MCP in Cursor
- The Apollo documentation does not cover Cursor, so use Cursor's standard method for remote MCP servers.
- Open Cursor's MCP settings and add a new server, or edit the
mcpServerssection of yourmcp.json. - Set the server
urltohttps://mcp.apollo.io/mcp. - Save, then complete the Apollo OAuth sign-in when Cursor prompts you.

- Search for 10 companies in a specific industry and country, and list their name, size and domain.
- Show open, click and reply counts for my most recent sequence, without changing anything.
- List my current Apollo tasks due today, read-only.
Troubleshooting
+Apollo does not appear in my AI tool's connector directory. What now?
The vendor says you can connect directly by pasting the standalone server URL `https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp` into your tool's MCP configuration. Use your client's custom connector or remote MCP option. If your plan or client version has no such option, ask your workspace admin or check the client's documentation.
+The OAuth sign-in fails or loops. What should I check?
Confirm you can log in to Apollo directly in the same browser, using the same business email. Then remove the connector, add it again and repeat the approval. Check for blocked pop-ups or browser extensions that interfere with sign-in. If it still fails, contact Apollo support.
+Why do some requests fail or return limited data?
Apollo says MCP actions respect your account permissions, plan limits and credits, so results mirror what your user can do in Apollo. Check your role, credit balance and plan in Apollo. Write actions such as sequence enrollment may also be limited, so test with small batches.
