Wix MCP Server

Wix's hosted MCP server lets AI assistants build and manage Wix sites and business solutions, including eCommerce, through OAuth-authenticated access to a site's data and APIs.

What it is and why it matters

The Wix MCP Server is Wix's official, hosted connection between an AI assistant and your Wix account. Once it is added to a client such as Claude, Cursor, Copilot or Windsurf, the assistant can search Wix documentation, list your sites, read a site's details and installed apps, and make API calls against a selected site. Business data such as Stores products, Bookings and CMS content is reached through the site API tools. Account-level actions such as creating, updating or publishing a site go through a separate tool. Nothing needs to be hosted by you, because the server runs at Wix.

For a merchant or agency, the value is faster routine work on Wix stores: checking catalogue or order data, preparing bulk changes, uploading images to the Media Manager, or getting answers about how a Wix feature works. It suits people who already manage Wix sites and are comfortable approving each action their assistant proposes. How well it works depends on three things: which Wix account you sign in with, how clearly you name the site you mean, and whether you keep the first sessions to read-only questions. The documentation also lists a Node.js requirement for some configurations, so check that before you start.

What it does

  • Read and manage site content, products and orders on Wix
  • Query the Wix documentation for building with the Wix SDK
  • OAuth sign-in tied to your Wix account and sites
  • Works with Claude, Cursor and other remote-capable MCP clients

Best for

Wix merchants and agencies who want assistant access to their stores without running anything.

How to connect it

  1. Check the prerequisites as described in the documentation: Node.js version 19.9.0 or higher is needed, and you need a Wix account with access to the sites you want to work with.
  2. Pick the configuration that matches your client. For clients that support remote MCP (the documentation names Claude, Cursor, Copilot and Windsurf), add the remote server entry from the Wix documentation to your MCP configuration file, choosing the type value (http or sse) that your client supports.
  3. If your client does not support remote MCP, use the alternative entry in the documentation that runs the Wix mcp-remote package through npx. Copy it exactly as shown in the vendor documentation.
  4. In Cursor without an API key, the documentation says you no longer need to edit configuration by hand. Use the install link or the Cursor MCP library entry that Wix provides. Instructions for Claude Desktop, Claude Web, Windsurf, VS Code and n8n are also linked from the documentation.
  5. Sign in with OAuth when your client prompts you, and choose the Wix account that owns your sites. Use the API key and account ID option only for tools such as n8n, and follow the vendor documentation for that.
  6. Test with a read-only request, such as asking the assistant to list your Wix sites. If it fails, follow the troubleshooting section of the documentation: check IDE logs, restart the IDE, log out and back in to the server, or clear the saved authentication folder it describes.

Exact commands and addresses change. Use the official documentation for the current steps.

Questions you can ask it

  • List the Wix sites on my account and tell me which ones have Wix Stores installed.
  • For my site named in this chat, show the first 20 products with their names, prices and inventory status. Do not change anything.
  • Show me the most recent orders on this site and summarise how many are unfulfilled.
  • Search the Wix documentation and explain how I would add a product collection through the Stores API. Describe the steps without running them.

What it cannot do

  • It cannot be used without a Wix account, and it only reaches the sites and data that the account you sign in with can access.
  • The account-level site tool cannot read or write per-site business data. Products, orders and similar data need the separate site API tools with a selected site.
  • It does not guarantee that a change is correct or reversible. The documentation does not describe an undo feature, so you must check changes on the live site yourself.

Staying safe

  • The server can modify a live site, including creating, updating or publishing sites and calling APIs on store data. Begin with read-only questions and approve every write action deliberately, ideally on a test site first.
  • If you use the API key and account ID option, treat the key like a password. Store it only in the client's secure settings or environment variable, never in shared prompts, and revoke it if it is exposed.
  • Agencies should confirm which Wix account is signed in before each session. The documentation notes that switching accounts can cause connection problems, and acting on the wrong client site is a real risk, so name the site explicitly in every request.

Watch out for: It can modify a live site. Approve write actions deliberately and start with read-only questions.

Frequently asked questions

+Is the Wix MCP Server free and official?

It is an official server provided by Wix and hosted by Wix, and the listing marks it as generally available. The documentation text provided does not state any pricing for the MCP itself, so check the vendor documentation and your Wix plan for any costs on the sites you connect.

+Do I need to install anything to use the Wix MCP?

For clients that support remote MCP, you add a short configuration entry and sign in. For clients that do not, the documentation describes running the Wix mcp-remote package through npx, which requires Node.js 19.9.0 or higher. Follow the vendor documentation for your specific client.

+Can the Wix MCP change my live store?

Yes. Its tools can make API calls on a selected site, upload images to the Media Manager, and create, update or publish sites. Start with read-only questions, review what the assistant plans to do, and approve each write action yourself, preferably on a test site first.
