Best MCP Servers for E-commerce and Marketing Teams (2026)
Updated · 7 min read

The short answer
The best MCP servers for e-commerce depend on the job. Klaviyo and HubSpot suit email and CRM work, Google's open-source server suits read-only Google Ads reporting, Meta's ad connectors suit Meta reporting, and Shopify's servers suit catalog access and developer work. Start with read-only access on every server, then widen permissions only after you trust the results.
The best MCP servers for e-commerce are the official ones from the platforms you already use: Shopify for the store, Google Ads and Meta for paid media, Klaviyo for email and SMS, and HubSpot for CRM. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open protocol that lets an AI assistant such as Claude connect to external tools and data. An MCP server is the piece each vendor or community maintainer publishes so the assistant can read, and sometimes change, data in that system.
This list ranks servers by how useful and how mature they are for merchants and marketing teams. It also says what each one cannot do. The research behind it covers Shopify, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Google Ads and Meta Ads in detail. Other entries (GA4, Stripe, Zapier) are described more briefly, so check their current documentation before you rely on them.
How should you choose an MCP server?
Pick by job, not by popularity. Four questions help:
- Is it official? Servers published by the platform itself are usually better maintained and safer than community ones.
- Is it read-only? Reporting use cases rarely need write access. Read-only limits the damage from a wrong instruction.
- Is it hosted or local? Hosted (remote) servers sign in with OAuth and work in web apps. Local servers run on your computer and often need developer credentials.
- Which AI app do you use? Some servers only work in desktop or command-line clients, not in web chat.
Quick comparison
| Server | Best for | Official | Access | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Ads | Ad reporting | Yes (Google, open source) | Read-only | Local setup, no write actions |
| Meta ads AI connectors | Meta ad reporting and management | Yes (Meta) | OAuth, reportedly includes write | Open beta, confirm details |
| Klaviyo | Email and SMS reports and drafts | Yes | OAuth (remote) or API key (local) | Check current send support |
| HubSpot | CRM and marketing content | Yes | OAuth 2.1 | Some objects read-only |
| Shopify Storefront MCP | Catalog and cart for shopping agents | Yes | Public endpoint, reported | Not for store administration |
| Shopify Dev MCP | Building apps and themes | Yes | Local | Docs and schemas, not store data |
1. Google Ads MCP server: best MCP for Google Ads reporting
Google publishes an open-source Google Ads MCP server, maintained by the Google Ads API team, with a guide on developers.google.com. Per the research notes, it exposes a small set of read-only tools: account discovery, reporting with GAQL (Google Ads Query Language, the query syntax for Ads data) and resource metadata.
What it can do: answer questions about spend, clicks, conversions, campaigns and search terms, based on the account data you grant.
What it cannot do: Google's documentation describes it as read-only. It cannot change bids, pause campaigns or create assets. Write-capable options exist only from third parties, and you should vet them carefully. Verify the current tool list in Google's docs, since one source reports the toolset has been renamed and expanded.
Setup reality: there is no Google-hosted endpoint. You run it locally or host it yourself. You need a Google Cloud project, a developer token and OAuth or service-account credentials. It runs locally over stdio, so it suits Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI and VS Code, but not claude.ai in the browser or ChatGPT web unless you self-host it over HTTP. That makes it a better fit for an agency with a technical person than for a solo merchant. See Connect Claude to Google Ads with the Google Ads MCP Server for the walkthrough.
2. Meta ads AI connectors: best Meta Ads MCP
Meta launched official "Meta ads AI connectors" on 2026-04-29. They consist of a hosted MCP server plus a command-line tool, in open beta, with OAuth sign-in and around 29 tools. Reports say the tools include write access.
What it can do: pull campaign and ad set performance and, depending on the tools enabled, manage ads.
What it cannot do or where to be careful: it is a beta, so tool names and behavior can change. Sources disagreed on the exact endpoint address, so confirm it in Meta's Business Help Center rather than copying one from a blog. Because write access is reported, start with reporting-only prompts and approve any change manually. Meta Ads MCP: Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Your Ad Account covers the setup.
3. Klaviyo MCP server: best MCP for email and SMS marketing
Klaviyo announced general availability of its enhanced MCP server on August 20, 2025, including a remote server available to all customers. The remote server uses OAuth. A local option runs on your machine with a private API key and scoped permissions, and optional parameters exist for read-only mode and for hiding user-generated content.
What it can do: pull reports, analyze campaign and flow performance, and draft or create campaigns and templates, per Klaviyo's Help Center.
What it cannot do (or is unclear): end-to-end scheduling and sending were reported to be rolling out, and send tools have reportedly started to appear. Check the live tool list before assuming it can send. Tool counts differ between sources (16 and 27 were both reported), so do not trust a fixed number.
Safety: use read-only mode first, and keep drafts as drafts until a person reviews them.
4. HubSpot MCP server: best for CRM and marketing content
HubSpot's remote CRM MCP server became generally available on April 13, 2026, according to its official changelog. It signs in with OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. You create an "MCP auth app" under Development, then MCP Auth Apps. There is no private app token route for the remote server.
What it can do: read CRM records (contacts, companies, deals, tickets, orders, carts, products, segments and more), marketing content (campaigns, landing pages, blog posts) and activities. HubSpot says existing permissions are respected.
What it cannot do: some objects stay read-only, and per-object write coverage should be checked in the changelog. HubSpot also has a separate local Developer MCP for building apps and CMS assets. Do not confuse the two. A one-click HubSpot connector also exists in the Claude marketplace, installed by an admin.
5. Shopify MCP servers: best ecommerce MCP server for store data
Shopify has several official MCP servers, not one. Counts and dates differ between sources, so treat "multiple official servers" as the safe description.
- Storefront MCP is meant for shopping agents acting for a customer. Third-party sources report a public endpoint on each store with tools such as catalog search, policy and FAQ search, and cart reading and updating. One source says the endpoint path changed after Shopify's UCP migration in April 2026, so confirm the current path on shopify.dev.
- Dev MCP (the Shopify AI Toolkit) connects coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor to Admin API documentation and GraphQL schemas. Treat it as a developer documentation tool. It does not read your store's orders or customers.
- Admin access: no official admin-level server was confirmed in the research. A community server by an independent maintainer manages products, orders, customers and inventory using store credentials. It can be useful but is not Shopify-supported, so use a scoped, read-only token where possible.
For details, read Shopify MCP Server: What Dev MCP and Storefront MCP Do.
6. Other servers worth checking
These were not verified in depth for this article, so confirm features in each vendor's docs.
- Google Analytics: Google publishes an open-source MCP server for Google Analytics, useful for traffic and conversion questions. Check its current scope and setup requirements.
- Stripe: Stripe offers an MCP server for payments data and actions. Because it touches money, use restricted keys and test mode first (see docs.stripe.com).
- Zapier: Zapier offers an MCP server that exposes its connected apps as actions. It is flexible, but every action it can run is a possible mistake, so limit what you enable.
What are the risks of using MCP servers?
- Wrong answers. The assistant can misread data or write a bad query. Check important numbers in the platform itself.
- Unwanted changes. Any server with write access can edit live campaigns, emails or records. Grant read-only first.
- Credential exposure. Local servers often store API keys on a laptop. Use scoped credentials and rotate them.
- Unofficial servers. Community servers vary in quality. Read the code or documentation before connecting production data.
- Platform numbers are not profit. Ad platforms report their own attributed revenue, so a clean report from an assistant is only as complete as the source data.
Which should you start with?
A merchant on Shopify who wants fast value can begin with Klaviyo in read-only mode for email reports. A paid media team can start with the Google Ads server for reporting and Meta's connectors for reporting-only prompts. A team with a CRM can add HubSpot. Keep each connection small, and expand once results prove reliable. For ideas on what to ask, see Ten MCP Use Cases for E-commerce Marketing Teams.
Frequently asked questions
+What is the best MCP for marketing?
There is no single best. Klaviyo suits email and SMS reporting, HubSpot suits CRM and marketing content, Google Ads and Meta suit paid media reporting. Choose the server that matches the system where your marketing data already lives, prefer official servers, and begin in read-only mode so the assistant can analyze data without changing anything.
+What is the best MCP for Google Ads?
Google's own open-source Google Ads MCP server is the safest choice. It is read-only, so it can report on campaigns but cannot change bids or pause anything. It needs a Google Cloud project, a developer token and credentials, and runs locally. Write-capable options exist only from third parties and need careful vetting.
+What is the best Meta Ads MCP?
Meta's official Meta ads AI connectors, launched on 2026-04-29, are the main option. They are a hosted MCP server plus a command-line tool, in open beta, with OAuth sign-in. Write access is reported, so start with reporting only. Confirm the endpoint and tool list in Meta's Business Help Center.
+Is there an ecommerce MCP server for Shopify?
Yes, Shopify has several official ones. Storefront MCP is built for shopping agents working with catalogs and carts. Dev MCP helps coding tools read Shopify documentation and schemas, but it does not read your store data. For admin tasks, only community servers were found, so check Shopify's docs on shopify.dev for current options.
+Are MCP servers safe to use with live store and ad data?
They are safe enough if you control access. Use official servers, give read-only permissions first, keep credentials scoped, and review any change before it is applied. Write access to ads, emails or payments can cause real costs if the assistant misreads an instruction, so approve actions manually.
+Do MCP servers work in ChatGPT and Claude?
It depends on the server. Hosted servers with OAuth, such as Klaviyo's remote server, HubSpot's and Meta's connectors, are easier to use from supported chat apps. Local servers, such as Google's Ads server, run over stdio and work best in desktop or command-line clients like Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code.
