MCP for Custom or headless

Custom and headless stores can build exactly the MCP they need.

If your store runs on a custom build, a headless setup or a platform with no MCP server, you can write a small MCP server over your own API. The official MCP SDKs make this a modest project, and you decide exactly which tools exist and what each is allowed to do.

The same advice applies as everywhere else: expose read-only tools first, authenticate properly, log what the assistant does and never share keys in prompts.

Build a custom MCP server

by You or your agency

Use the official MCP SDKs to expose a few well-defined tools over your own API, such as order lookup or stock check.

Note: You own the security. Start read-only and add logging and rate limits.

Where to start with Custom or headless

  1. List the three questions you most want an assistant to answer about the store.
  2. Build one read-only tool per question over your existing API.
  3. Add authentication, logging and limits before any write tool.

Servers that work with any store setup

These connect to your ad accounts, analytics, email and payments tools, not to the store software, so they do not depend on your platform.

Frequently asked questions

+Can I use MCP if my platform has no server?

Yes. You can build a small server over your own API with the official SDKs, or use an automation bridge for simple actions. Ads, analytics, email and payments servers work regardless of your store platform.
